"Realistic" Goals...

Another day, another thought!

Back onto this weight loss challenge I have set myself...   When I completed my personal training course (yes, I do know what is required to get me where I want to be!  I just need to deal with the demons that cause me to sabotage my efforts!) I had a lot of people ask me what is realistic?  How much weight can I lose healthily?  What should my goal weight be?  What is my healthy weight range?

There is so many different figures that people can pull out of cyber space that send them on a path of I have X amount to lose and I am never going to be able to do that.  Or end up sick trying!   The other question I got and still do get a lot is, how quickly can I lose the wieght?  What is the ideal amount to lose per week.  Some people (me included at times, want to lose 10kg in a week for a wedding or something amazingly crazy like that...  Not so realistic guys!)

I even found myself questioning "what is right for me yesterday...  So, I researched!  I prefer to work of the BMI Calculator as it will give a figure of a health Body Mass Index.   As opposed to the NUMBER on the scales!    The best one I found in my search yesterday was on Michelle Bridges Website!  It was super easy to use and fast!

Here is the link:
http://michellebridges.com.au/

Once here I put in my details (current weight and height) and it calculated my BMI - eeeekkkkkk.....  There is work to do, thts for sure!  (But I knew this! )  Then, to get a healthy weight range - I used the same tool and adjusted my weight so that my BMI fell into the HEALTHY catagory.  There for I know have a goal weight range!   I am happy to report my goal was perfectly in the middle of it too!!  (See, I still do know my stuff!)

Armed with this knowledge and even more determination, once I put my kids to bed last night, I put on Jillian Michael's Cardio Kickbox workout DVD - Phew - I got through it but don't remember it being so hard!  LOL.  All in all, I am making good progress.   The road to a healthy body, mind and soul is a steady and consistent  one...  It is not about jumping on the newest fad diet and losing a heap of weight really quickly!  It is about a lifestyle you choose for yourself and your family!  I am back to making a great choice for me and mine!

So - to make myself fully accountable I am putting it all out here on my blog!

Starting Weight:  86kg (Christmas Eve)
Current Weight: 81.7
Goal Weight: 55kg.   (Healthy BMI weight range = 50 - 61kg)

Therefore I want to lose a total of:   26.7.
Minimum amount i need to lose to get into my healthy BMI range is:  21.7 (i have said 60kg for this)

This is it people!  I am finally committed to this and it is for ME!    I make this point here because it is the other thing I have learnt, and know, if you do it for others you'll have trouble maintaining it too!!  Used to see that at the gym a lot...  People working out to get the body their partner wants (unfortunately it never lasted and often leads to an unhealthy cycle and spiral (yes, i am talking from experience here!)

Cannot wait to reveal the NEW me.  I am well on my way and this journey will be amazing as I can see the new me in my mind!

Big Love,

Kris

Happy Australia Day...

Hey Everyone!

Just a short note from Camp Cooper to say HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY!

We are proud Aussie's in this house and have had a very relaxed day!  Unfortunately will not be making the celebrations and fireworks today as had planned due to an unwell bubba but we have made the best of it at home!  We have dressed up in our Australia Day Outfits, been for a walk around the block (or 2).  The kids had vegemite on toast for breaky and Party Pies for Lunch...  Tonight, will cook up a few sangas for them for dinner, and they will have them as sausages in bread!  Ahhhh - thats the life!  We also have some good ol Aussie music on the stereo!  Yep...  Life is indeed good at Camp Cooper!!

For those of you following my weightloss efforts, you will be pleased to know that I did not have the pies for lunch but opted instead for a bowl of steamed greens, and honestly...  actually really enjoyed them!  I will be attacking a DVD workout tonight but am spoilt for choice, so not sure which one i'll be doing!  Thinking maybe Elle MacPherson's The Body Workout (as she is Australian and I don't have Mish's DVD's yet - Sorry Mish!!!)

Anyway, I'm off this thing, it's time to dance and sing around my loungeroom with my gorgeous kiddies!!

My cutie patootie's in their Australia Gear!  x

Big Love,

Kris.

A New Beginning

Heya and Welcome to our blog...

This is something that I had planned to do at the start of the year as part of my NY Resolutions.   I wanted to finally do a blog for a few reasons, the main ones being: to keep a record of my amazing life with my gorgeous kids, to share our memories, the moments that take my breathe away and the triumphs, the highs the lows and in general as a kind of keepsake of the year we had.  Another reason was so our family and friends can keep up with where we are and whats been happening.  Hard task wih people all over the country!  Lol.

So after a delayed start (its already been a HUGE year and its only just getting started!) we are finally blogging our journey!  Where to begin??

Well....   This year I have been exceptionally positive and looking forward to the new...
New life, New Chapter, New Me...  That is all well and good, but I need to really focus and wonder, how is all this new going to come about...?   I wrote a list of things that I wanted to acheive and one of them was weight loss and to get fit and healthy.  My start date was Jan 1st.  Seems like a very standard new years resolution right?

I am happy to report, so far so good!  I started the New Year with resolve and determination...  And also enlisted a "friend" on the same wave length and away we went.  We have a reward system set up and have both lost a little so far.  (Christmas Eve I was a shocking 86kg...  My weight today is 81.7... ).  We are doing really well and it is so great to have the support and someone on the same train as myself.  I have found in the past for what ever reason I have had a lot of de-motivators so this is just fantastic!  I really feel I will get there this time!   I even joined up at my new local gym and once Zac goes back to school, will be making a lot of use out of that.  For now; I have TaeBo and Zumba DVD's and they do work up a sweat!!

So in saying all this, I decided to take real control and accountabilty of my self destructive spiral and in doing so made a committment and took a plunge - that's right....  I finally joined Michelle Bridges 12Week Body Transformation.   I signed the dotted line so to speak - just in time to take advantage of the pre-season!
I must say, taking that first step was a little daunting, overwhelming and scary, but that was nothing as opposed to the 2nd Pre-Season task...   All I will say at this point is OMG!  Talk about getting to the roots and soul of it all!   Pre-Season is 4 weeks and kick off is 21st February 2011.  So I am prepared and willing to channel this new adventure!  To finally let go of all the excuses and negative stuff that keeps me on my self destructive path!  I am 100% committed to riding this challenge all the way through to the end!  The after party is in Melbourne this year in May and I cannot wait to reveal the new me!!

Why am I doing this you ask??  Well...  there are several reasons:
1. To finally be Healthy
2. To be Happy with Me and the way  I look and feel.
3. To be a great role model for my boys!

So, here is to me, the 12WBT and all others embarking on a journey of some description...  We will rock it together and acheive our goals!!

Big Love,

Kris.
